Pioneer brings Apple AirPlay 2 to select AV Receivers

Pioneer has issued a firmware release that brings Apple AirPlay 2 to select network-enabled AV components, as first announced on 8 January 2019.

This update covers a broad line-up from the top-end SC-LX901 model (released in 2016) to the best-selling VSX-933 model, launched in 2018.

AirPlay 2 is an Apple technology designed to control home audio systems and speakers in any room – with just a tap or a voice-command to by Siri – right from an iPhone, iPad, HomePod, or Apple TV. Play a song simultaneously in the living room and kitchen, for instance, and you can adjust the volume separately in both rooms, while the music stays in sync.

The following components will support Apple AirPlay 2: AV Receivers, SC-LX901, SC-LX801, SC-LX701, VSX-LX503, VSX-LX303, VSX-933, VSX-S520, VSX-S520D. Network Stereo Receiver: SX-S30DAB.

To automatically update your compatible network-connected Pioneer product, navigate to its system set-up menu and follow the instructions, or visit www.pioneer-audiovisual.eu for more information.
