Sonos officially entered the smart speaker race with the launch of its Sonos One voice-controlled speaker, which can support both Amazon and Google voice services – a first in the market.

Buyers in the UK can currently control the speaker via Amazon Alexa, with Google Assistant support being added in 2018.

The smart speaker is compatible with its home sound system, allowing users to operate it using voice commands. It can be used as a standalone speaker or can be wirelessly paired as part of a stereo set-up.

This model uses two Class D digital amplifiers to drive one tweeter and one mid-woofer, as well as six integrated microphones and an adaptive noise-suppression algorithm, which allows it to focus on the right person.

Available in either black or white, the Sonos One has a suggested price of £199.
