British audio specialist Quad, now in its 81st year, has introduced the VA-One – a compact integrated valve amplifier that fuses Quad’s traditional valve-based heritage with the modern convenience of digital streaming.
With a footprint measuring 180 x 330mm, the VA-One is compact, yet packs in a wealth of high-performance audio technology.
There are three digital inputs – optical, coaxial and asynchronous USB – that support data up to 24-bit/192kHz with its own built-in DAC. Smartphones, tablets and computers can be paired via Bluetooth for wireless connectivity.
It uses two EL84 pentode valves in push-pull configuration per channel to deliver a power output of 15 watts. The Quad VA-One costs £1,299.95.
