The iRobot Roomba 980 is the first product in the Roomba range of robotic vacuum cleaners to be connected to the cloud, allowing consumers to control it from iRobot’s new Home app.
The app enables users to start the Roomba cleaning from anywhere, as well as manage the cleaner’s schedule.
iRobot said visual simultaneous localisation and mapping (vSLAM) technology sits at the heart of the Roomba 980, which allows it not only to avoid obstacles, but also intelligently map floors.
The Roomba 980 – the price of which is yet to be confirmed – can clean for a full two hours, and if it still has work to do after that, it will return to its home base to charge and then get back to it.
