The rHead, a discrete analogue headphone amplifier from Arcam, is designed to complement the audio system of any headphone lover.

Extensive care has been taken to optimise the layout and areas like multiple ultra-low noise power supplies and a fully direct-coupled signal path are said to make a big difference.

The volume control uses an ultra-linear analogue resistive ladder, as featured in its A49 flagship amplifier, which is said to eliminate tracking errors. Comprehensive protection systems prevent damage to the rHead without interfering with the sound. Both RCA and XLR inputs (switchable) are available, as well as both 3.5 and 6.53mm sockets.

The amplifier is cased in stylish cast aluminium and will be available at £399.
