Zanussi washing machine turns 31 in Liverpool

You’ll never ‘wash’ alone – A man from Liverpool is celebrating owning his Zanussi washing machine for more than three decades.

Frank Fairclough, 72, of Mossley Hill, Liverpool has put on 3,224 loads and washed 32,240 items of clothing, and 4,836 hours of laundry later his FL811 Washing Machine is still spinning strong.

Mr Fairclough commented: “I bought my Zanussi Washing Machine in 1987 from Comet for £180 because it was reasonably priced and looked good. It’s amazing to think how long it has lasted me. I’ve never had to get it repaired or replace any parts”

The football fan has never been let down by his Zanussi appliance and contacted the manufacturer to share the news of his aging machine.

Chris George, Head of Marketing at Zanussi, said: “We were delighted when Mr Fairclough reached out to tell us that he has had his washing machine for 31 years and it’s still running perfectly. Here at Zanussi, we’ve been making washing machines for over 100 years. At the heart of everything we do is a promise to make robust, reliable appliances that make home life simpler.

“To celebrate the washing machine’s 31st birthday we have donated a brand new Zanussi ZWF01483WH Front Loader Washing Machine to Mr Fairclough’s local homeless football team, to help them achieve a superior clean for years and years to come.”

Stuart Carrington, Liverpool Homeless Football Team Manager (pictured here), added: “When we heard that Zanussi wanted to give us a washing machine, we were elated. We don’t have a dedicated laundry room at the training grounds so my wife washes all the team’s kit after every match. We hope our machine serves us as well as Mr Fairclough’s, so we can keep our players’ kits clean for decades to come!”

Mr Fairclough continued: “I think it’s marvellous what Zanussi are doing for the team. My washing machine has never let me down and so I hope the team’s machine stays spinning strong for far more than 30 years.”
