Wuaki.tv app for Philips Android TVs

TP Vision claims Philips Android TVs will be the first to offer video-on-demand streaming service Wuaki.tv.

Using Wuaki.tv’s Android Smart TV app, users will be able to watch a mixture of content from the service on a subscription, rental or purchase basis. This includes movies and TV shows, including the latest releases.

The new Android app has a new user interface that is aligned with Android TV usability features. Users with TVs that support voice input can even search for content by tapping on the built-in microphone of the remote control and saying the name or title of the show.

TP Vision global marketing director Giuseppe Puglisi said: “It’s fantastic that Philips TVs will be the first to offer a great service like Wuaki.tv. The addition of this new service, combined with the recent announcement of a number of other major video streaming and gaming partners, is further proof that we intend to not only continually improve our Android Smart TV offering but to also make it the best available.”

“By entering into the Android TV apps environment, we are completing our presence in most of the Smart TV operative systems,” said Sidharth Jayant, global product director on Wuaki.tv. “Our aim is to become the best streaming service on living room devices hence this deployment is quite strategic for us.”
