Whirlpool UK Appliances Limited has been named Large Business of the Year and Employer of the Year at the Peterborough Telegraph Business Excellence Awards 2021. The Peterborough-based company was also highly commended by the judges in the Customer Service Award category.
The Awards celebrate the achievements of businesses operating across a variety of industries in the Greater Peterborough area. Categories, including Best New Business and Business Person of the Year, recognised the companies that are developing the economy, generating employment and making a positive contribution to the local community.
Whirlpool – which celebrated its 110th birthday this month – was presented with the Large Business of the Year Award, and the judges commented on the company’s extensive offering, from design and manufacturing, to installation, maintenance and the collection and recycling of its appliances. The judges also recognised that Whirlpool UK clearly demonstrated its plans for further growth, investment and employment in the city.
The brand also received the Employer of the Year Award for its strong commitment to the employment and development of its staff, demonstrated by the high level of training, networking and mentorship programmes available to its colleagues.
Ian Moverley, Public Affairs Director, Whirlpool UK Appliances Limited, said: “We are honoured to be recognised at the Peterborough Telegraph Business Excellence Awards, demonstrating our commitment to developing talent within our business and establishing deeper ties with our community. Our UK head office has been based in Peterborough for 70 years and, throughout this time, we have invested heavily in the development of our employees, as well as in a range of initiatives to improve the lives of those living in the city.”
