Whirlpool UK Appliances Ltd Donates Appliances To Golden Lane Housing

Peterborough based Whirlpool UK Appliances Limited, parent company to KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Hotpoint and Indesit, has donated a number of appliances to Golden Lane Housing, a charity that provides supported housing to people with a learning disability. To further support the charity and the vital work carried out for residents in need of adapted accommodation, Whirlpool UK donated £25,000 to Golden Lane Housing.

Whirlpool UK donated over 75 appliances to 19 different Golden Lane Housing developments across the UK, in locations such as County Down, Liverpool, Leeds and Peterborough. The donations, which included fridge freezers, washing machines, dishwashers and induction hobs, offer residents increased independence in their homes, thanks to the highly intuitive and easy to operate nature of the appliances.

Golden Lane Housing is committed to ensuring people with a learning disability in the UK are able to access housing of a high quality, which fulfils their individual needs and requirements. The charity houses over 200 people every year and has transformed the lives of over 2000 people since its establishment in 1998. In addition to providing housing, the charity offers advice and support on a range of issues that residents may face when living independently, including keeping safe in their home and community, benefit advice and a 24 hour emergency repairs helpline.

Each Golden Lane Housing home is specifically tailored to meet each resident’s individual requirements and as a result, it is vital that all appliances inside the home are accessible, intuitive and easy to use. The Whirlpool Supreme Care Live® washing machine (FSCR 12441) and matching tumble dryer (HSCX 10441), which were among the appliances donated to Golden Lane Housing, communicate with each other via the Whirlpool 6TH SENSE Live® app. The app is a great asset to each resident and makes life very easy by communicating the washer’s current programme to the dryer, which will automatically synchronise and set the correct drying cycle, to ensure that the programme is always the right one for the resident’s laundry. What’s more, at any time the resident may set or change the programme settings, start or stop the appliance and check the progress of the appliance programme, so it is very easy to use.

A further appliance that was donated to Golden Lane Housing was the Whirlpool 650 mm SmartCook induction hob (SMP 658C/BT/IXL), which offers a revolutionary assisted-cooking experience that makes creating delicious dishes beautifully simple. The Whirlpool Assisted cooking function, a benefit of the 650 mm SmartCook hob, is a pre-set function that perfectly cooks a range of food types, displaying step-by-step instructions for each stage of the cooking process making it easier for residents to cook for themselves.

As we know induction cooking is very safe and ideal for residents. The hob only turns on when a pan is placed in contact with the hob and it turns off immediately, as soon as the pan is removed, adding additional safety for each resident. In addition, the hob combines the most advanced 6TH SENSE® technology with an intuitive touch interface, which guides the resident every step of the way to perfectly cooked food. Thanks to 6TH SENSE® technology, the hob will maintain the correct temperature at all times, simplifying the cooking process for the user and ensuring perfect results.
