TRIC announces new President and date for 2022 Awards!

The TRIC Awards will return for 2022 in full splendour at Grosvenor House on Park Lane in London – the home of more than 50 TRIC Awards ceremonies over the years. The day will see famous faces from TV, radio and online celebrating the UK’s most loved programmes.

Taking place on Wednesday 6 July, newly-appointed TRIC President, Alex Jones, will host the event.

TRIC (The Television and Radio Industries Club) will be celebrating 53 years of the TRIC Awards this year and, as a not for profit organisation, the Club chooses two new charities to support; for 2022 it’s the Alzheimer’s Society and Save the Children.

New TRIC President, Alex Jones, has hosted BBC’s The One Show for over 11 years.

The Awards will also once again be streamed online for fans to tune in and to watch all the action, hosted across the ScreenHits TV streaming platform.

The voting long list for the TRIC 2022 Awards will go live tomorrow (Wednesday 16 March) and the voting platform will be live for six weeks, where the public and industry can choose their most loved shows and personalities from the world of comedy, drama, reality TV, factual, radio, news and sport across TV, radio and online.

Changes at TRIC HQ at the end of last year saw TRIC Chair, Jane Ostler, hand over to Daniel Todaro, CEO of Gekko and writer for ERT magazine.

Mr Todaro said: “I’m delighted to take over from the excellent leadership of Jane Ostler; she led the Club excellently through quite possibly the most difficult times our organisation will experience.

“My appointment is to build on this, and enable a new chapter for the Club. My goal is to lead TRIC into new and exciting sectors, strengthening our relationships with supportive partners such as Sky, Sony, Roberts, Samsung and GB News to name but a few, and attract new complimentary industry brands to help TRIC support good causes.”

TRIC has also bolstered its Committee with streaming trailblazer, Rose Hulse, CEO and Founder of ScreenHits TV, who is working with TRIC to steer the Club into new streaming territory.

Previous winners at the TRIC Awards include Gavin & Stacey

Ms Hulse commented: “ScreenHits TV couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to live stream the TRIC Awards for the second year in a row and bring the event to millions worldwide. This year we will be incorporating fashion on the red carpet, pre-Awards interviews and the entire Awards show, celebrating the very best in British broadcasting.”

Writer, producer and script editor, Paul Powell, Co-Founder of Blackdog TV, has also joined forces with TRIC to work with the team, adding his flair to the production and the scripts of both the Awards and the TRIC Christmas Lunch.

And in addition, TRIC has welcomed new Corporate Partners from across the industry, including: Digital UK, Freeview, Freesat, Samsung, Cello, GB News, Candid Publicity and SES.
