Ruark launches first wireless speaker

Audio brand Ruark has announced the release of its first wireless speaker, the MRx.

The speaker is also able to connect with other devices, such as the R2 and R7 speakers, to create a multi-room system for the home.

It features Bluetooth aptX for wireless streaming and claims to produce CD-quality sound from compatible devices.

The speaker has been designed in keeping with the brand’s industrial style, featuring a real wood and soft grey exterior with a textured fabric front.

Specifically designed for this model, the MRx features new full-range speaker units based on the company’s driver technology from the MR1.

The company is also introducing a dedicated app for iOS and Android called Link, which will allow users to fully control all of the MRx’s functions and provide information on the source material being played.

The speaker will be available from May through its selected dealer network.

Managing director Alan O’Rourke said: “Here at Ruark, we noticed an increasing demand among today’s consumers for a wireless, connected speaker, but also that this was missing from our existing product range.

“Drawing on the design inspiration of other models in our range, the MRx was born. Of paramount importance was that it not only sounded great, but would be simple to use, easy to connect, and offer the user ultimate flexibility. For this reason, our MRx is one of the most versatile connected speakers on the market. And, as with all items in our range, it was important to retain our timeless aesthetic – the sleek, real wood or soft grey exterior contrasted with the soft grey fabric is familiar with many of the newer Ruark products. In fact, we place as much of a significance on the way our sound systems look, as well as sound.”
