Richer Sounds to reopen part of fire-damaged Exeter store
Richer Sounds is to partially reopen its Exeter store, which has been closed since it suffered extensive fire damage on July 27.
The shop is expected to be up and trading by this weekend – Saturday, August 20.
The demonstration room of the store was relatively untouched by the blaze, so the staff will set up in this space until further notice.
Store personnel are also available to visit customers at their homes or places of work for free, no-obligation quotations within a 10-mile radius of the store and they are also offering mail order to customers in the shop’s catchment area.
Said the store’s deputy manager, Daniel Beer: “We can’t wait to reopen. Although we’re extremely grateful to Julian [Richer] for guaranteeing our jobs and salaries during this trying time, we want to be back to normal – sharing our customers’ passion for music and movies, and finding them the best equipment at the best prices.”
Added Richer Sounds property manager, Matt Oxer: “In the Great British tradition of ‘make do’, our Exeter store will be trading by Saturday, August 20. It might not be the expansive shopfloor area that customers and staff are used to, but customers will still be able to get the biggest home entertainment bargains in the area.”
The blaze is believed to have started in the basement of the Sidwell Street store and an investigation is currently under way to ascertain its cause.
Nearby homes had to be evacuated and 15 fire engines were called in to deal with the incident.
