New website offers sound advice to electronics shoppers

A new website has launched this week (w/c 13 June) and it features reviews and ratings of the best premium consumer electronics products by some of the UK’s top tech writers. The aim is to point shoppers in the direction of their local, specialist retailer so they can get premium product information and demonstrations and, ultimately, make a purchase.

The service is free to both retailers and end consumers.

The site – – launched by the team at Creative Merchants – will also offer a unique and personalised service, giving buyers access to the reviewers who will provide tailor-made advice, free of charge.

Sound Advice will have around 100 premium hi-fi and home cinema product reviews at launch – both in written and video format. The plan is to have 150 reviews by the end of the year as new products are launched.

There are 12 categories on the site, including amplifiers, AV receivers, CD players, headphones, projectors, soundbars, stereo speakers, surround sound speakers, turntables, TVs and wireless speakers.

Each product has been recommended by a panel of seven independent reviewers: John Archer, Verity Burns, Andrew Everard, Simon Lucas, Rahiel Nasir, Ed Selley and Steve Withers.

As well as reviewing, the experts are on hand to offer personalised advice to the website’s subscribers through an online consultation booking service, which is free. Creative Merchants said this is a world first for the CE sector.

After reading, visitors to the site will be put in contact with their local, specialist retailer for demonstrations, further information and to make a purchase.

Sound Advice works with brands to create a nationwide network of high-quality retailers who can help consumers. Brands will also get the chance to have their products extensively marketed across Google and social media channels for a monthly subscription fee, which includes an augmented review.
