Neato announces Google Assistant integration

Smart robot vacuum manufacturer Neato Robotics has announced that its Botvac Connected products will now work with Google Assistant.

From today, users will be able to use voice control to give completely hands-free cleaning instructions via Google Assistant on Google Home.

The integration will also allow users to check battery levels, locate their robot vacuum with the FindMe function, and schedule a cleaning cycle with a simple voice instruction.

“The explosion of artificial intelligence has enabled more sophisticated voice control and we are happy to bring this revolutionary technology to customers,” said Giacomo Marini, chairman and chief executive of Neato Robotics. “At the heart of Neato’s brand is – and always has been – technology leadership through innovation. Google Assistant integration further cements our commitment to innovation in the smart home.”

Botvac owners now have the option to control their smart robot vacuum via the Neato app, Amazon Alexa, Neato Chatbot for Facebook and the latest addition, Google Assistant.

Avril Murphy, vice-president of sales and marketing, added: “Neato was the first robotic vacuum company in our market to announce Alexa integration – for our Botvac Connected model in Q4 2016. And we’re thrilled today to confirm this will be extended to our entire range of connected products, alongside Google Home compatibility, ready for its launch in the UK later this year. Neato is firmly committed to providing our customers with the very best cutting-edge technology on the market. Being the first to offer full smart-home integration with Alexa and Google Home reinforces Neato’s technology leadership.”
