Kenwood aims to raise £10,000 for charity
Staff based at Kenwood, The De’Longhi Group’s UK Head Office in Havant, has announced that the children’s charity, Over The Wall, will be its Charity of the Year for 2019.
The manufacturer of food preparation, kitchen and coffee machines is partnering with Over The Wall to help fund the free residential camps for children with serious illness, that the charity provides.
The initiative is being led by Kenwood’s ‘Giving Something Back’ team, comprised of staff in the UK head office who will aim to raise £10,000 by encouraging the Kenwood workforce to participate in many fundraising challenges and activities.
Kenwood will also be sending a team of staff members to volunteer at the charity’s South Health Challenge camp in July by unloading and unpacking lorries of resources, medical supplies and equipment and generally helping to create a camp environment that is safe and fun.
The calendar of events planned include staff participation in the ‘Rough Runner’ on the South Downs in April, a 100-mile cycle challenge across London (Ride London) in August, and other fundraising challenges throughout the year.
Staff will also raise funds by using their food preparation and hot drinks products to provide the general public with tea and cakes at the Emsworth Show on the August bank holiday Monday (26 August). In addition, Kenwood has also agreed to host a tea party in Havant, to celebrate Over The Wall’s 20th anniversary at the end of camp season, with further proceeds going towards funding camps.
Alan Cummings, the Giving Something Back team sponsor at Kenwood, said: “Having considered a number of alternatives we are delighted that the employees of Kenwood have chosen Over the Wall to be our Charity of the Year. We look forward to forming a prosperous, fun-filled partnership involving Over The Wall and our own employees, to ensure as many children as possible can enjoy the benefits brought by this amazing charity.”
Kevin Mathieson, Over The Wall’s CEO said, “We are absolutely delighted that Kenwood employees have chosen Over The Wall to be their Charity of the Year. Supporting our cause by participating in fundraising events and challenges, will have an enormous impact on the charity and will increase the number of children with serious health challenges attending our camps.”
