Independent electrical retailer, Hughes Electrical, has donated a 40-inch Altimo TV to a local NHS COVID-19 Vaccination Centre.

After the company was approached by the NHS for help, people in Great Yarmouth will now be able to watch health promotion messages during the observation period after their COVID jab at the Centre thanks to the generosity of Hughes.

Explained Michael Cox, Lead Matron: “When we set up the Centre we only had a small TV for patients to view while waiting for 15 minutes post vaccination, so ideally we needed a larger screen and that is where Hughes stepped in!

“It gives us the ability to promote a healthy lifestyle and offer advice about the benefits of exercise through a series of professionally produced short videos.

“We are not sure how long the Vaccination Centre will be operational in Great Yarmouth, but if it does close there will be plenty of other uses for the TV within the NHS and we are extremely grateful to Hughes.”

Said Justin Kuttschreuter, Manager of the Hughes branch in the town: “As a business we have been operating in Great Yarmouth for decades and see ourselves as being at the heart of the local community and always looking for ways we can support it.

“We know what a superb job Michael Cox and all his colleagues in the NHS are doing on rolling out the mass vaccination programme to people in and around Great Yarmouth. We were delighted to be able to support them by donating a TV.

“It’s good to know it is playing a role in helping to spread positive health messages and that it will be used in the NHS for years to come.”
