Hotpoint celebrates its 110 year anniversary

Hotpoint is celebrating its 110 year anniversary with its Hotpoint Through the Ages campaign.

The domestic appliance manufacturer was founded in 1911 and the company’s name originated from the main product in the brand’s offering at the time, the electric iron, which was designed to stay ‘hot at the point’. During the 1920’s and 30’s, Hotpoint went on to develop its first washing machines and refrigerators, while also manufacturing kettles, portable clothes dryers and vacuum cleaners.

The company experienced significant growth during the 1970’s and 80’s, becoming a market leader in a number of appliance categories. Hotpoint expanded its portfolio during this period to include dishwashers, cookers and built-in appliances, and the brand also increased its colour palette offering across its range towards the end of the 80’s, marking an end to just manufacturing traditional ‘white’ appliances.

The company today is one of the most recognised white goods brands in the UK, with several awards and accreditations to its name.

To commemorate 110 years of appliance manufacturing, Hotpoint is taking to social media to launch its Hotpoint Through the Ages campaign. Consumers will be asked to share images and stories of themselves or their family members with their ‘old but well-loved’ Hotpoint appliances, using the dedicated #Hotpoint110Years hashtag.

The best story or picture shared on Instagram, tagging the official Hotpoint account (@HotpointUK) and using the #Hotpoint110Years hashtag, will be in with the chance of winning £1,000 of Hotpoint appliances.

The company will also be showcasing the history of the brand through the ages, with flashbacks to its retro Hotpoint adverts on social media. Additionally, Hotpoint will be releasing a limited-edition version of its logo to mark the occasion (see above).
