ERT Awards 2017 now open for entries

This year’s ERT Awards, which are now open for entries, will celebrate 10 years of the event and also include two new retailer categories – the Turning Point award and Digital Marketing of the Year.

These recognise ERT ’s ongoing campaign to revitalise the electrical industry.

The Turning Point Award will throw a spotlight on those retailers who have truly tried something new and out of their comfort zone to adapt to the changing market. There will also be a Digital Marketing award. At this year’s ERT Turning Point Summit in February, we recognised that digital marketing is one of the key issues for independent electrical retailers.

Following last year’s successful ERT Awards partnership with leading field marketing agency Gekko, we’ve teamed up with them once more.

Retailers who enter will still be judged by a panel of industry experts, as will the Training award for suppliers, but ERT and its research partner Gekko will be surveying hundreds of independent retailers to find out their favourite suppliers and sales reps.

Look out for an email this afternoon (May 5) from ERT and Gekko explaining how you can have your say in the ERT Awards 2017.

This year, retailers will be asked to choose which of their suppliers are the best, based on the following criteria:

  • Service;
  • Training;
  • After-sales;
  • Display assistance;
  • Delivery and stockholding.

Dealers will also be asked to name their favourite sales rep, judging them on qualities including reliability, problem-solving, product knowledge and how well they understand their retailers’ business needs.

Once the results are in, a shortlist of all the finalists will be announced in late June – entries close on Friday, June 9. The winners of this year’s ERT Awards will be revealed at a special lunchtime ceremony on Monday, September 25 at The Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden.

This year’s retailer categories will include Independent Electrical Retailer of the Year, Consumer Electronics Retailer of the Year, Consumer Electronics Showroom of the Year, Domestic Appliances Retailer of the Year, Domestic Appliances Showroom of the Year, Small Domestic Appliances Retailer of the Year, Digital Marketing of the Year, the Turning Point Award and Independent Salesperson of the Year.

There will also be a Special Achievement Award to recognise an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry.

This year’s ERT Awards are supported by Amdea, Astra, Blomberg, Electrical Safety First, Freeview Play, Hoover, Miele, Panasonic, Retra, Roberts, Smeg and techUK.

Glen Dimplex Consumer Appliances will sponsor the music quiz, which will take place on the day, and there will also be a welcome drinks reception.

Said ERT editor Sean Hannam: “We’re really excited about celebrating 10 years of the ERT Awards, but we’re also keen to look forwards, so we’ve introduced two brand new categories – the Turning Point Award and Digital Marketing of the Year.

“I’d like to thank all of our sponsors and encourage even more retailers to enter the biggest and best awards in the electrical retailing industry.”
