Electrical Safety First has opened applications for its Safety Innovation Award, and the closing date for entries is 28 August 2021.
The winner will be selected by the audience at the charity’s annual Product Safety Conference, on 24 and 25 November 2021, taking place online across both days.
The Safety Innovation Award – which is now in its fourth year – was established to recognise those who put safety at the heart of product development, while encouraging sustainability and innovation.
ESF is inviting applications from businesses of all sizes – as well as individuals – that have developed an innovative product or project which enhances consumer electrical safety. Entrants must include a detailed description of how it operates, together with supporting evidence of how it fulfils award criteria. Applications are open to projects and products at all stages of development, including design and concept.
Last year’s award winner was the E-Bulb from JOB. Described as the world’s smallest fire extinguisher, it is a key component in device-integrated fire protection. Bodo Müller, JOB Group CEO, and inventor of the E-Bulb, had this to say about Electrical Safety First’s Safety Innovation Award:
“Since the award ceremony, we have been covered by Germany’s national broadcast and print media. Market awareness and new inquiries have increased, and the award has also helped us accelerate the process of standardizing the E-Bulb as an additional safety component.”
This year’s shortlisted applicants will be notified in September, with selected finalists presenting to judges in October. The top two finalists will go head-to-head at the Product Safety Conference in November.
