Eclipse first choice for sax virtuoso’s Gvido launch gig

Twice Grammy-nominated saxophonist Amy Dickson chose Eclipse speakers for her performance at the recent launch at Abbey Road Studios of electronic music score display system Gvido.

The Japanese high-end speaker specialist supplied four of its £6,500 TD712zMkII flagship models for Amy Dickson’s performance of composer Steve Reich’s piece New York Counterpoint, which imitates electronic sound with acoustic instruments.

Originally written for 11 clarinets, it was played on this occasion on saxophones, with a backing track featuring the 10 other parts recorded in advance – which is where the Eclipse speakers came in.

Ms Dickson said of the speakers: “The sound of Eclipse is surprisingly clear, real and full-sounding. It was a real pleasure to play with sound coming from this speaker.”

Eclipse has also worked with composer Steve Reich before when it supplied a multichannel speakers system for a performance of one of his percussion compositions back in 2012.
