CIH postpones Euronics Showcase until March 2021

In light of the latest World Health Organisation (WHO), Public Health England and UK Government steps concerning COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Combined Independents (Holdings) Ltd (CIH) has postponed the Euronics Showcase which was scheduled for the NEC Birmingham on Sunday and Monday 19 and 20 April, 2020. The event will now take place at the same venue on Sunday and Monday 28 and 29 March, 2021.

Stuart Cook, CEO of CIH, the electrical buying group, part of Euronics, Europe’s largest electrical buying group, commented: “The WHO1 upgraded their definition of COVID-19 to ‘Pandemic’,  and as a result, the UK Government has increased the UK’s response from Containment to Delay, which will lead to the banning of large gatherings and the active encouragement of social distancing. Clearly, this escalation puts our Euronics Showcase 2020 and its attendees at risk.

“The health and well-being of our members, our staff and employees from our exhibiting brands is a top priority. We’re also keen to minimise the financial exposure of those suppliers taking part in an event which looks as if it will not be allowed to take place. For these reasons, we have chosen to defer the event until March 2021.”

CIH will convert the Euronics Showcase 2020 to a virtual event for April, so that exclusive supplier offers and display plans can still be accessed. Further details will follow shortly.

“We wish to thank our members and suppliers for their understanding and support at this difficult time,” added Mr Cook. “We look forward to delivering a fantastic Virtual Trade Show in April, and we will return in 2021 with a physical Euronics Showcase, which we’re confident will be an exciting, productive and valuable event for all participating brands, CIH members and Euronics agents.”
