CIH appoints marketing and e-commerce chief

Buying group Combined Independents Holdings (CIH), which is part of Euronics, has appointed Robert Blair as head of marketing and e-commerce.

Mr Blair joins with an “impressive” background in e-commerce having started his career with Amazon in 1999.

During his seven-year tenure at the company, he was responsible for rolling out European communication policies and organising a global structure for customer feedback.

After this, he moved on to Crewe Trading, where he spearheaded a multichannel strategy, resulting in substantial growth, achieved by blending the online, in-store and the catalogue areas of the business.

His career later extended into consultancy, where he supported numerous businesses including Liberty of London, Isabella Oliver and Micro Scooters.

CIH chief executive Stuart Cook commented: “This is a crucial year for the company, with many major investments. The appointment of Robert is significant, with the development of e-commerce within the business, and paves the way to securing a successful future for all of our agents.

“Robert’s proven marketing and e-commerce skills, knowledge and experience are a huge asset to CIH. Robert is very customer-focused and drives the business through understanding the needs of our discerning agents. His strong values and belief in excellent support and service, will promote the progression and development of new and future opportunities.”

Mr Blair said: “We have some exciting opportunities for 2017, which will add some excellent positivity to the trading climate.

“Euronics is the largest network of independent electrical retail specialists on the high street. We are now in a position to create an online landscape, for the benefit of both our members and consumers, and to strengthen our offering to compete in the forever challenging trading climate.”
