Avensys launches smart home concept

Audio visual retailer Avensys has officially launched its smart home concept in its Fleming Way store in Crawley.

Actor Shane Richie (pictured centre) cut the official ribbon on Thursday July 28 and the smart home is now open to the public.

Avensys said it built the smart home in-store in response to the changing needs and desires of customers to have the latest technology in their homes. The smart home presents the latest technology in an interactive, real home setting.

The 4,000 square feet dedicated to the smart home is an extension of the current retail store and will be used for events and functions, alongside one-to-one customer demos.

Managing director Markus Wood (pictured left) said: “Our smart home has been in development over many months and through tremendous hard work from our team and an investment of over £1 million in retail terms, we are able to open the Avensys Smart Home.

“We recognised that the way consumers shop for home appliances and audiovisual products is changing and we expect growth in the smart-home market of 450 per cent over the next four years. We think we’re in a great position to help people understand the concept of connected homes and how it can work for them. Our new smart home, along with our fantastic superstore, creates a different shopping experience for customers and offers an important alternative to the national retailers, both in terms of price, choice and added value service.”

The Avensys smart home has been shortlisted for the Consumer Electronics Showroom of the Year category in this year’s ERT Awards.  For more on Avensys, see our dealer profile here.
