AEG scoops four RedDot Product Design Awards

Electrolux has been recognised with four RedDot Design Awards across AEG’s product ranges. Under the scrutiny of an international judging panel, it said the designs impressed in areas of innovation, functionality, formal quality and ergonomics.

Pernilla Johansson, Chief Design Officer at Electrolux, commented: “A RedDot Award ranks as one of the most coveted in the world of product design. Designing an outstanding experience is at the heart of everything we do. We thrive when connecting foresight and creativity in an iterative, research-based approach.

“I’m very proud of the teams that have been recognised for bringing our design philosophy, ‘Human Touch’, to life.”

Luke Harding, General Manager at Electrolux UK and Ireland, added that the company is “delighted” to win – not just one but – four RedDot Awards.

“Our aim with AEG appliances is to not only exceed our consumers’ technical requirements but also to fit seamlessly into their homes. A focus on sleek product design and aesthetics, alongside innovative technology, allows us to provide a fully premium experience to consumers.”

The winning products will be presented at the RedDot Design Museum in Essen, Germany and online at www.red-dot.org.

The winners include…

AEG’s Matt Black Kitchen Collection (pictured top) – which uses an etching process to create a matt glass fascia, a technology most associated with artwork and architectural components. The resulting matt texture has natural anti-fingerprint properties.

AEG’s AX7 and AX5 air purifiers – launching this May, the colours of the AX5 and AX7 are calm; paint is not used, and the textile covers (made from recycled PET bottles), handles and feet can be exchanged and customised to owner’s preference – all features recognised by the judging panel.

AEG’s QX6/QX7/QX8 stick cleaner (left) – with its easy-grip handle and low weight distribution, it’s lightweight for effortless manoeuvrability. The Axial cyclonic technology ensures uncompromised performance.

The Care drum – to be integrated into AEG laundry products globally from 2022, it all started with the notion that many people hand wash delicates because they don’t trust their machine, but the Care drum is significantly gentler on fabrics.

Abrasion to all clothing, not just delicates, is reduced as garments glide smoothly thanks to the elevated cushion-like drum pattern and optimised lifter paddle. A thin film of water covers the holes during washing to provide a gentle laundry process.
