I've just returned from the media scrum that is CES Unveiled - the evening press preview event that is held just before the Vegas show.
Every year it's the same - the world's tech press descend on the ballroom in the Venetian hotel - a venue that's barely big enough to accommodate the manufacturers' exhibition stands - let alone the hundreds of hacks who are hungry for a heads-up of what's hot for the year ahead and even hungrier for the free food and booze.
Amid the media mayhem, I did manage to find a few interesting gadgets that gave me a feel for some of the top trends at this year's CES.
Wireless streaming - and in particular Apple AirPlay devices - will be high on the agenda. American accessories brand Griffin was previewing its nifty Twenty - an audio amplifier that cleverly uses Airport Express to capture the Airplay stream, decode it, then send the lossless, amplified sound through speakers.
This means that users who have speakers that are not Airplay-enabled can stream music wirelessly via AirPlay and connect with any AirPlay-enabled iOS device. There's no news yet on UK availability for the Griffin Twenty.
AirPlay was all the rage on the Pure stand at CES Unveiled, too. The company debuted its Contour 200i Air audio dock for iPod, iPhone and iPad. Interestingly, the AirPlay dock is the first Pure product not to feature DAB.
Pure's director of marketing Colin Crawford told me this was in order to keep the interface simple and, he added, users can listen to the radio by using Pure's app, The Lounge. The Contour 200i hits the shops next month, priced at £199.99.
Finally, the other thing that caught my eye was the arrival of a new entrant in the Smart TV sector. Chinese brand Lenovo was causing a stir with its 55in LED Smart TV - the K91.
Due to launch in the Chinese market in April, the TV is the world's first to use the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. There are currently no plans to bring it to the UK.
So, there you have it - Apple AirPlay and Ice Cream Sandwich: just two of the things on the menu at this year's CES Unveiled.
