Samsung has announced its new Smart TV range for 2012 at the CES show in Las Vegas, including its first 55in Super Oled TV and a new flagship LED model - the ES8000, which will be available in screen sizes up to 75in.

The company also unveiled a new technology called Smart Interaction, which enables Smart TV users to interact with and operate their TVs by using voice control, motion control and face recognition.

The ES8000 LED TV is powered by a dual-core processor. Users can surf the web while using - or downloading - multiple apps simultaneously. A broad range of content is also available through the Samsung Apps platform.

Three new services for Smart TV were also announced at CES: Family Story, Fitness and Kids—enabling families to share photos and messages with each other, sync their fitness goals and activities, and help children partake in educational viewing while recording their progress.

“The TV is the heart of our homes and is the central device that connects our family at the end of a long day. For Samsung, this means providing the future of Smart TV now through new TVs that recognise and respond to you, connect your family in and out of the home, and offer amazing new content options personalised to your lifestyle and needs," said Robert King, head of consumer electronics, Samsung UK and Ireland.

Commenting on the company's new Oled TV, he said: "Samsung has a history of creating innovative Oled products such as mobile phones, digital cameras and tablet PCs. Today, we are proud to extend our Oled leadership to the TV category, with this spectacular 55in Super Oled.

“By incorporating true-to-life picture quality, Smart Interaction, Samsung Apps, 3D functionality and multitasking into an amazingly thin form factor, Samsung is delivering the TV of tomorrow, today."
