Apple’s iPad 3 is rumoured to be equipped with an eight-megapixel camera – a substantial improvement on the two-megapixel camera in the iPad 2.

A Taiwanese publication claims to have found a genuine iPad 3 casing, which suggests a much larger camera lens and its report claims that the iPad’s camera may be similar to that in the iPhone 4, which is capable of shooting 1080p video.

As well as the camera, the iPad 3 is expected to come with wireless 4G LTE connectivity and be equipped with an A6 processor.

In the hope of staying ahead of its rivals, such as the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and the Amazon Kindle Fire, Apple is also reported to have a better rear-facing camera on the iPad’s third incarnation.

Speculation about the features is set to continue until the iPads 3’s release in March.
