Panasonic is to add a new BBC Sport app to its cloud-based internet service Viera Connect.

The app, which will be available from this month for the company’s Smart Viera Connect TVs, will provide access to 2,500 hours of BBC coverage of the biggest sporting events of the year – all in HD.

Live and on-demand coverage from BBC Sport will include F1, Euro 2012, Wimbledon and, of course, the Olympics.

Panasonic is an Official Worldwide Olympic Partner and the new app is said to offer comprehensive Olympic coverage, allowing viewers to switch between 24 simultaneous live streams during the Games. It also offers additional features including live data, statistics and information.

The Network Download to 2012 Viera Connect TVs is June 19, in time for Wimbledon, and July 18 for 2011 sets, in time for the Olympics.
