LG unveils world's largest thinnest Oled TV | Back |

LG Electronics has unveiled what it claims is the world’s largest and slimmest 55in Oled TV.
It is just 4mm thick, weighs 10kg and features cinema 3D as well as smart TV capabilities.
Vowing to make oled synonymous with LG, Havis Kwon, president and chief executive of LG’s Home Entertainment Company, said: “In the history of television, there have been very few innovations as impactful as the coming of Oled TV.”
The company, which launched the world’s first commercialised 15in Oled TV in 2009, showed its latest Oled product at Monaco’s Salle des Etoiles and promised to bring it to European consumers in the second half of this year.
At the event were 400 dealers, journalists and F1 champion Sebastian Vettel.
“With Oled TV leading our premium product line-up in Europe, we have a very strong case to become the number one TV brand in this region,” said Stanley Cho, head of LG’s Europe Operations.
“Until that day, we will continue to develop the products that have made us the most innovative home entertainment company in the industry.”
The new Oled TV uses WRGB technology to produce better picture quality. LG’s TVs use four colour pixels instead of the regular three of red, green and blue. The fourth is a white sub-pixel to perfect colour output, while a colour refiner enhances the image.
Along with Oled TV, LG introduced a new TV line-up for the European market. Ranging from cinema 3D smart TVs with cinema screen design to ultra definition (UD) 3D TVs, this year’s TV line-up is said to be LG’s most aggressive in terms of technology and design.
