Dimplex is the latest company to become an associate member of electrical retailers’ association Retra.

The company, which is the brand leader in electric heating, said it had decided to join Retra in recognition of its support for the UK’s independent sector.

Said Dimplex marketing communications manager Karen Trewick: “We are delighted to have become an associate member of Retra and look forward to working with the members over the coming months and years.”

She added: “2012 is going to be a tough year for everyone in the electrical industry but there are opportunities available if we work in partnership and that’s exactly what we hope to do.

“As consumer spending in certain areas declines, alternative revenue streams within the sector are holding up and this includes electric heating, so we believe there are plenty of opportunities for forward thinking retailers, especially with considered purchases such as our Optiflame and Opti-myst electric fires.”
