CIH signs up Orbitsound | Back |

Independent buying group CIH has added Orbitsound’s T12 v3 soundbar to its listings.
Orbitsound saw its sales grow by 447 per cent last year, outperforming the soundbar market which, itself, showed strong year-on-year growth of 65 per cent, according to market research company GfK.
CIH brown goods buyer Hugh Watchman said the buying group had been “extremely impressed” by Orbitsound’s dramatic growth.
“We are confident that the T12 soundbar will be a really successful product for our retailers, offering them the opportunity to create a valuable add-on sale to a TV purchase or as a great standalone purchase in its own right." It is designed to bring cinema-quality sound to flatscreen TVs without the need for multiple speakers.
“The phenomenal growth of the soundbar market has proved that there is a real consumer desire for audio products to improve the sound quality on flat panel TVs and there are large numbers of these TVs sold in recent years in need of a boost to their sound quality,” he said.
Mr Watchman pointed out that Orbitsound’s T12 was small, versatile (with iPod and iPhone dock) and was sensibly priced allowing retailers a decent margin. It was also, he said, “an incredible sounding product”.
He added: “Last but by no means least; we are also delighted to be able to support an up and coming British technology company making user friendly and innovative British-designed audio products.”
Said Orbitsound’s chief operating officer John Cameron: “The independent market is an extremely significant channel for us and one that we are keen to expand and develop in 2012.
“We believe that Euronics will be the perfect partner for us to make a real impression on the independent market and strengthen our position as the UK’s leading soundbar brand.”
He added that Orbitsound would be supporting the CIH deal with an extensive nationwide training programme.
