Sharp unveils European showroom at CES

Back

Sharp TV 2012

For the first time Sharp is hosting a European showroom at CES to display all the products it has developed for the European market.

Among them is the LC-80LE844U 80in class Aquos 3D LED TV. It is claimed to be the world’s first 80in class 3D LED TV, offering more than double the screen area of a 55in screen. It is one of a range of Aquos LED TVs being unveiled at the show in screen sizes from 32in to 80in and featuring a number of models with screen sizes of 60in plus.

Featuring 1080p HD, the LC-80LE844U carries Sharp’s Quattron technology for more colours and the brightest 3D images, with full array LED backlighting and 240Hz to virtually eliminate blur during fast-moving video.

The company is also showing its top end ICC-4K LED TV first seen at the IFA exhibition in Berlin. Developed jointly with I-cubed Research Center Inc, the ICC-4K uses ICC, integrated cognitive creation technology, to upscale from HD to four times 1080p resolution.

New big-screen (60in, 70in and 80in) LCD TVs, which do not feature 3D or Quattron technology, are also being shown at CES under the slogan “Great Football on Big Screens”. This forms part of Sharp’s preparations for its role as a sponsor for the upcoming UEFA European Cup championship in Poland and Ukraine.

“With these new models, our product portfolio contains the ideal TV set to suit different soccer fans’ demands throughout Europe so they can sit back and experience the upcoming soccer extravaganza at its best,” said Herman Karabetyan, vice-president of marketing at Sharp Electronics Europe.

The company is also displaying its Smart TV platform Aquos Net+ that gives viewers access to internet apps for YouTube videos, films, news, weather forecasts and football updates.

Also on show are Aquos Wireless Lifestyle ultra-thin LED HD TVs in 20in, 32in, 40in and 60in screen sizes, which, because they use wi-fi can be positioned almost anywhere where there is a power outlet.

“The products we are showcasing demonstrate Sharp’s passion for creating innovative technologies that exceed consumers’ expectations,” said Mr Karabetyan. “From large screen televisions to interactive touchscreen displays to the latest in solar technology, the products on display are designed to enhance people's lives at home, work, and everywhere in between.”
