The AEG brand has returned to floorcare in a strategy by parent company Electrolux to cover price points across the entire sector.
Zanussi, also owned by Electrolux, was brought into play last year to cover the budget end of the market while Electrolux took up the mantle in the middle. Now AEG is to take on rivals at the top end of the market.
Under the AEG-Electrolux name, four distinct ranges of cleaners have been launched topped by the award-winning Ultraone.
The Ultraone series – which comprises three models ranging from around £220 to £300 – is reported to be ultra-efficient, powerful (2.2kW, 420 air watts) and quiet (72dB) which has resulted in it gaining top scores in cleaning-performance tests.
According to Electrolux, independent tests carried out on this cleaner, which was launched in continental Europe last year, have seen it outperforming leading competitors for air flow and dust pick-up on all surfaces. It has, in fact, received “best in test” accolades in consumer reviews in five countries – Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and the Czech Republic.
It is also claimed to be highly manoeuvrable, with a 12-metre operating radius and a cleaning head articulated to clean under low furniture. Other details for a machine that has received a prestigious iF product design award include an AeroPro motorized nozzle system, an AeroPro 3-in-one brush, crevice and upholstery tool, sealed Hepa 13 filtration and five-litre utra-long-performance S-bag dust bags.
Also in the AEG-Electrolux line-up is the Ultrasilencer range, claimed as the quietest (68dB) cleaners ever produced.
There are two models priced around £200 and £210, which use patented Silent Air Technology, which, says the company, took three years to develop. Its “soft start” motor has also been designed to reduce vibrations and the machine is equipped with a newly-developed AeroPro tube and nozzle system.
Another range is the AEG-Electrolux UltraActive, consisting of two compact cyclonic cleaners priced around £200 and £250. This range, too, uses the AeroPro nozzle system, offers 330 air watts, has a washable Hepa H12 filter and is supplied with an AeroPro 3-in-one brush, crevice and upholstery tool.
Last in the new line-up is the AEG-Electrolux Ergorapido 2-in-1 rechargeable stick/hand-held cordless cleaner. There are four models – purple, pastel green, yellow and antique steel – priced at around £130. Weighing 2.4kg, it uses bagless cyclonic technology, has two power settings and runs for 20 minutes.
