| 10 March 2010 Sony is reported to be planning to launch 3DTVs in Japan on June 10. According to BBC online, a 46in screen will cost around £2,608 – roughly 52 per cent more expensive than one of the company’s regular flat-screen models. The same report pointed out that Panasonic will begin selling 3DTV in the USA from today and Samsung and LG are planning to launch products in the UK in the next couple of months or so. Sony boss Sir Howard Stringer is on record as saying that 3D is “the next great consumer experience”. A report from research company Insight Media predicted that nearly 50 million 3DTVs will be sold worldwide in 2015, rising from 3.3m this year. | |
