| 05 March 2010 Wales is set to become the UK’s first fully digital TV nation at the end of this month, as its final and largest switchover gets under way. Digital switchover lead body, Digital UK, revealed that analogue BBC Two was switched off at the Wenvoe transmitter group on March 3. This allowed 280,000 homes served by local relay transmitters in ‘Cardiff, Newport and south-east Wales to receive BBC digital channels for the first time. All the remaining analogue signals will be switched off and replaced with additional digital services, said Digital UK, on March 31. Following switchover, Digital UK said some Freeview viewers in parts of the West TV region will be able to received services from both England and Wales for the first time. Analogue TV signals in these areas overlap, and this will also be the case with digital signals, Digital UK said. | |
