| Beko beats the fresh food blues | |
| 19 February 2010 BEKO has introduced its first cooling product to feature blue light protection technology in the fridge section to prolong the life of fresh produce. The GNE114610X four-door fridge-freezer uses blue light to continue the process of photosynthesis for the fresh fruit and vegetables stored in the crispers. Beko says this helps maintain freshness and increases vitamin content. This model offers a gross storage capacity of 21.5 cu ft (fridge 13.6 net/freezer 5.4 net) and has fingerprint-proof stainless-steel doors. It measures 925mm x 1,810mm x 740mm (W x H x D). Details include a multifunctional frost-free freezer that has a “flexi zone” compartment (lower right) that can be easily switched to act as a fridge, chiller, wine cooler compartment or a freezer using the touch-control digital LCD display. The A-rated fridge has two chiller compartments for meat and fish and two large salad crispers. This model is expected to retail at around £1,200. Beko. 01923 818121
