| Big-drum Whirlpool's a 'stunner in silver' | |
| 21 January 2010 A 9kg drum is one of the top features of Whirlpool’s latest large-capacity washing machine, which is said to be one of the biggest available in a machine with a standard footprint of 600mm x 850mm x 600m (WxHxD). The freestanding AWOE9558 uses Whirlpool’s 6th Sense technology, which the company says has been upgraded for better performance and economy. The machine incorporates Whirlpool’s Clean+ technology, which uses a multiphase wash cycle that combines with the use of a stain solver to improve wash results. The water temperature is raised in steps to optimise the performance of individual components in the detergent and stain remover. It is claimed to improve stain removal and save up to 40 per cent in energy. This washer offers an A+ energy performance (A for washing and B for spinning) and carries Whirlpool’s Speed 15 program, designed to wash a 3kg load of lightly-soiled garments in just 15 minutes. It has a Super Eco program to save up to 40 per cent in energy – useful, says Whirlpool, for running at night to benefit from any lower-energy tariffs. Other details include a 1,200rpm spin and 14 wash programs. It comes in silver, black or white and is expected to retail at around £450. “This is a serious washing machine for big loads,” said Whirlpool’s marketing manager for laundry Juan Pillay. “Its 9kg capacity is a real treat for large families. But its ruggedness doesn’t compromise style or elegance. It is an absolute stunner in silver or black with the sleek contemporary lines that consumers love.” Whirlpool UK. 020-8649 5000 | |
