| Find you way around Freeview with Mio | |
| 31 July 2009 MIO is claiming to be one of the first manufacturers to introduce a satnav system with a built-in Freeview digital TV. The Mio Navman Spirit TV comes in two models – a 7in widescreen version (V735) and a 4.7in design (V505).Both are available in UK stores from this month. Mio is keen to stress that the Spirit TV is only intended for use when owners have reached their destination or during breaks between driving. The product is suitable for family driving holidays and camping trips, or for taxi drivers or truck drivers to watch between journeys. As well as the Freeview feature, the Spirit TV includes an iPhone style side touch screen interface, Google search, Wcities travel books, lane guidance, safety camera locations, traffic data, pedestrian mode, and Navpix photo navigation. “Our existing range of satnavs already encompasses photos and the ability to play MP3s and video, so a digital TV tuner is the natural next step in satnav innovation. The V505 and V735 combine our cutting-edge navigation with the ability to watch hundreds of digital TV channels across Europe – making it the perfect companion for family outings or professional drivers,” said Huw Bush, head of UK marketing for Mio. Both models include a seven-day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) which lists what’s on every available channel up to a week ahead. The V735 also includes full media device functionality, enabling users to store and view video and photos, and listen to their favourite MP3 music tracks. It also has a built-in FM transmitter, allowing users to tune the device into their car speakers via the radio. Mio. 01293 566 100
