LG educates the trade and consumers on TV technology
26 May 2009

LG has unveiled two new trade and consumer initiatives in response to independent research that revealed 80 per cent of UK households are confused by jargon associated with TV purchases.

The LG Xperience, a 20 ft road show trailer set-up with the latest LG TVs, will embark on a nationwide consumer and retail education tour to help demystify technology terminology associated with the TV industry, as well as concepts such as digital switchover and Freesat.

Participating stores include Argos, Currys and Comet. The Xperience will make its first appearance at Lord’s from June 5-18, during the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup, before its tour around digital switchover regions.

Also, an interactive LG online buyer’s guide (www.lge.co.uk/tvguide) has been developed to help support LG’s education tour.Aimed directly at consumers, this microsite uses video and other forms of interactive content to help consumers choose a TV that is suited to their individual needs. Consideration is given to the customers’ distance from the TV, their viewing habits, the type of viewing platform used in the home, lighting conditions, and the room in which it is positioned.

George Mead, marketing manager digital display, LG Electronics, said: “Consumer choice has never been greater and it’s key for us to help support consumers and retailers by providing the right tools to simplify common misconceptions around technology terminology. Ultimately, we want to help consumers make the right choice to enhance their home entertainment experience."
